Oops. Did I really call her that?!?

I took 2 years of spanish in high school, but lets be honest, ya use it or lose it.  I don't regularly never speak spanish.  Occasionally, we have spanish-speaking only patients and there are even rare times, when a translator isn't available.  I mean, yes, we always have capability to a translator.  You get on the phone, call this 1-800 number and pass the phone back and forth, but sometimes in labor and delivery you don't have time for that!  I remember pushing a spanish-speaking only patient whose husband was on his way to the hospital.  But it was just the 2 of us...I did quite a bit of sign language for dummies and "Como esta?"  Unless she said "Muy bien", I had no idea what she was saying.  I do know that  "dolor" means pain.  Are you impressed?? And I THOUGHT I knew the word for push.   While I was coaching her during pushing, using my most encouraging facial expressions told her "Punta, Punta!!"  OVER AND OVER AND OVER AGAIN.   Weeks later...we had this spanish speaking housekeeper that went to English classes at a local church.  We would often compare new words.  When I proudly told her my new word and how I excitedly instructed her to push.  She got red in the face and just shook her head and giggled.  She never would tell me what the word meant.  I googled it and according to Urban dictionary.  I called my patient a "whore".  OVER AND OVER AND OVER AGAIN!   Worst part is, I can't even apoligize to her and try to explain that I had no idea what I was talking about...I sure hope she knows that I'm a clueless-English-speaking-only-white-girl!

{silly & immature} 1st Family Vlog

I TRIED TO talked a little about what everyone else says about me..."She is SO country!!"

In this vlog, my plan was to talk about my southern accent and my southern favorites...but my husband was acting like a 12 year old, so it turned into a silly, immature, laughing session, that left my face beet red and tears in my eyes.  If you hate silly...don't watch because this vlog is a big ol' dose of immature giggles!  We are silly...we have fun...we laugh at stupid stuff!
Clarification: one & half cup of SUGAR per 1 gallon sweet tea.  I was giggling so much that I made no sense.

ART Partners

A couple weeks ago, Brynn came into town because her sister had a baby!  The girls were sick and I didn't want to risk getting baby Eli sick, so we met up for a girls night out at the local ART Partners art auction.  It helps to raise money for the ARC.  The ARC is an organization that offers art and music therapy for adults and children with mental and physical disabilities.  My Mamaw, who's an artist, along with other local artists help the ARC artists create masterpieces to be auctioned.
It is such a small world!  This lady made a lasting impression when I had the opportunity to meet her a couple of years ago.  Her name is Claudia and I took care of her a few weeks when she was in the hospital having complications with one of her pregnancies.  She was so sweet and a joy even though she was stuck in the hospital.  I enjoyed taking care of her.  All turned out well and she just delivered her 6th baby.  She is with the organization that helps put theses events on and helped Mamaw and the rest of the committee make the auction a success.

11 Months

Oh my lovely Lucy, your 1st birthday is nearing and I'm getting sad that your infancy is ending.  Last month, you experienced your 1st illness: respiratory infection, ear and eye infections.  It broke mine and your daddy's hearts to see you sick.  It was also the 1st time that you drank from a sippy cup.  We went on a short 2 night camping trip.  You are so curious when it comes to food.  If we are eating, you want some too!!! I'm excited to be planning your 1st birthday party!  But it's a bittersweet feeling that my baby is growing up.  I love your army/belly crawl and will be so sad when it becomes a thing of the past.  But I love when new things happen too.  I love how ticklish you have become.

Congratulations Jessica!
Email me {meganamazinglove@yahoo.com}

Thanks to everyone who entered! And THANK YOU TO LINDSAY FOR GIVING HER ADORABLE PILLOW!
I enjoyed this giveaway and hope to do more!  It means a lot to me that people actually read my thoughts and stories.  I guess it's also easy for people to visit when I bribe them with free stuff!  HA.  Kinda like when we were in middle school and Stevi farted and tried to give Jacob a piece of candy so he would keep his mouth shut and not make a big deal about her rattling one off in the middle of class...it didn't work, he's still laughing about it 10 years later. Hahahahaha!  Sometimes bribing works...sometimes it doesn't!  Everyone check out Lindsay's Etsy store and Facebook page for your baby, wedding & housewarming gifts...or just for yourself!

I'm considering doing my 1st vlog.  "What the crap is that??", you might be wondering...it's a video-blog.  Basically, you hear and see my thoughts instead of read them.  Holly over at Where We Can Live Like Jack and Sally... is hosting a link up on Friday. I'm not sure if I'm actually going to do it, because I know I'll feel like a goober, as I stutter and talk into my computer screen! But I do enjoy watching other vlogs.  I'm trying to talk my bestie into doing it with me.  Most of you that read, know me and hear me all the time.  There are a few "new friends" that might get a kick out of it.  Actually my friends that know me will probably be laughing at me!  Ahhh, I don't know, if I'll do it...you'll know Friday.

Not quite fall weather

I love going camping in the fall. We decided last minute to go in a short, 2-night trip to the lake. I've been working quite a bit lately & I knew there were several things that I needed to do around the house, but I agreed. I'm so glad we went. It was wonderful & relaxing!

Jacob got off early on Friday, before he got home, I threw what food we had in the fridge & pantry in the camper. I filled a couple of laundry baskets with short sleeves, long sleeves, sweat shirts, flip flops & tennis shoes for the 4 of us. I was hopeful that it would be a perfect 65ish cool fall crisp air. We got settled into our camping spot a little after lunch, unloaded, ate a quick lunch, put the girls down for a nap, then I headed back to town for a few hours to teach a childbirth class. There was a moment after we unloaded, when Jacob had built a little fire...I had made me a cup of pumpkin spice coffee with whip on top...we were both sitting around the fire, sweating! I wanted it to be a cool, fall day so bad. Reality was that it was a muggy 80 degrees! After teaching the class, we ate dinner at a local's favorite with Nana & Papa who also had their camper at the lake next to us. We all chowed down on some fried food! We went back to the camp site, sat around a bonfire with Bobo & Cassi who was spending the night with Nana & Papa. Saturday morning, I drank several cups of my pumpkin spice coffee as the day warmed up.
We enjoyed a big breakfast outside at the picnic table.  Then Bella and Uncle Bobo fed some ducks.
Bella patted her lap saying "Here ducky, ducky."
Bella really wanted to go swimming. Sure it's the tail-end of September, but it's a warm day...why not? As much as I was trying to pretend like it was fall weather...it didn't change the fact that it was a warm day! She & her daddy had a ball in the water!
We played at the park, took naps, grilled burgers, roasted marshmallows & watched Bama football.

Don't forget to comment to win the monogrammed chevron pillow.  Click here.  Join, Like, Pin and comment, then check back Wednesday to see if you're the lucky winner!
