My bestie's gift to me & allowing my mind to forget that I'm running

You'd think that my best friend living in Oklahoma would create distance in our relationship, but honestly it hasn't AT ALL!  For my birthday, I got a sweet card & 29 reasons why I was her best friend.  I loved each reason equally and it meant so much to me.  Some were so sweet & others had me laughing.
It's too awesome not to share some...
#2 You are beautiful! (Let's face it, everyone likes to have a pretty friend)
#4 I can tell you about some of our money issues and you don't look down on me (although Dave Ramsey hates us both)!
#6 I know that I can trust you 100% around my husband (can't say that about many people)
#7 I can text/call you and ask the most stupid/random questions and you always answer me. (and don't make me feel totally stupid)
#11  You got Dr Bill to call in Phenergan and Zofran for me in Oklahoma
#14  You gave me the most awesome baby shower!
#16  You force me to do things that I would never dream I would be able to do (8K, 1/2 marathon)
#17  You were my double date to Jr & Sr Prom.
#23 You pin great things on Pinterest.  Ha.  lol.
#26 You love the lake/Wind Creek as much as I do.
#27  You can make a bigger mess trying to "organize" something that you had in the first place. (just like me)
#28  You love to make lists and color coded charts for everything.

I love you too, Brynn!!

This is a topic that Brynn & I discuss regularly...

I'd REALLY like to get this body ready to just try on swim suits, much less walk around in one.  I've been running more lately, watching closely what I eat and avoiding much junk food.  I can tell you many things that I hate about running, but there's one thing that I enjoy.  After the 1st mile, when my breathing is right and my legs adjust to the work, my mind wonders.  It wonders to another time, another life.  Daydreaming.  If I look up, towards the clouds and just allow my mind to go anywhere but where I am, I forget that I'm even running for a few moments.

29

My mama said her hardest was her 29th birthday. I'll have to disagree. I'm ready to leave my 20s with a bang! Live it up. Enjoy every little moment. Smile & laugh. Ignore what annoys me. However, it'll be ok if this year goes by slowly.

Yesterday was a good day. A really good day. I only worked 4 hours. Enjoyed chocolate kisses for breakfast. I had sweet messages lighting up my phone all day. My thoughtful work friends gave me a birthday card & delicious cupcakes. We went out for lunch.

I went on a 3 mile run. I think it was by best time yet...but my phone died after mile 2, so I can't be certain. Came home, did a little sewing before heading to my parents house. We had a delicious dinner & attempted to play games...but with babies, things never go as planned. Regardless~there was wine & lots of laughter! They gave me some sewing goodies that I cant wait to check out. My sweet mama has made me the same yummy cake on January 25th for the past 29 years. You can only find this icing at the Piggly Wiggly. Mmmmmm. It's SO GOOD!

So far, 29 isn't so bad.

Well hello Sunshine...it's been a while.

I'm a little shocked and excited that in less than 24 hours The Sleeping Beauties has 143 likes on Facebook!  It makes me feel so loved & supported!

Today is such a beautiful day.  After several rainy, dreary days & a snow day...we needed some vitamin D!  I took the girls on a long wagon ride.  It's just what my legs needed...they are VERY sore from yesterday's run.  Then we enjoyed a picnic outside.  I just put the girls down for their nap....Jacob decides it's a good time to sight in his gun.  A very LOUD gun.  ugh.  Thankfully it didn't take him long.

The Sleeping Beauties GRAND OPENING

Today is the day.  I'm feeling a little gutsy and bold today.  I had a nice, long 6 mile run this morning with Kristin.  It was great because it was the 1st time I've ran over 3.5 miles since April of 2011.  Although my legs are tired now, I ran 11:40 min/mile for a total of 1 hour and 10 minutes, burning close to 1,000 calories!  Even more exciting...for the very 1st time ever, I ran with someone and actually kept up!  Remember me telling you that I am ALWAYS VERY LAST when I run with a group of people.  So the fact that I actually ran WITH someone, as in, stride-in-stride together was an extreme boost to my confidence and proving to me that I am improving.  Thanks Kristin for challenging me!  I needed it!!

Now, on to my exciting announcement.  I have been so inspired by other who have been successful in creating a small business for themselves.  I decided to take a try at it.  Since Jacob surprised me with a new sewing machine for christmas, I've been busy playing!

Lindsay Hayes has been very successful in selling her camera straps on Etsy.  I bought 2 for my sisters for christmas, they both love them.
Check her out http://www.etsy.com/shop/LindsaysMonograms

Meagan Robinson is another nurse who's creative!  I've ordered shirts for my girls and several baby gifts from her.    http://www.etsy.com/shop/MegsMonogramsandMore

Lindsay Gray, another creative (nurse friend) just opened her shop a few days ago.

I have a friend who's son lost a leg in the war several years ago.  He has been very successful in selling prosthetic parts on ebay.

I've been inspired by those who have a full time job, family & use their creativity to generate a little extra income.  SO.....I'm taking a whirl at it.....

Something is in the works

I've been inspired.  My wheels are turning.  My creative juices are flowing.  I'm learning by trial & error alone.  I'm excited, but too nervous to announce just yet...what I'm praying will turn into success one day.  Until I feel like I'm ready, I'll keep practicing...or playing...

What I've been up to...

Y'all might have thought that I've forgotten about my lil ol' blog, but I'm here and hope to pick back up where I left off.  The past month has been a roller-coaster of emotions.  December 20 was my last day working at St. Vincent's (for the past 6 years).  It was, like I knew it would be...mighty bittersweet.  My sweet friends planned a night out and threw a going-away party at work. Here are just a few of my StV friends...
They gave me a little photo album of sweet smiles and a journal full of funny stories and encouraging words.  I'm missing these ladies already!  They made me laugh.  They made me creative.  They made me buy Starbucks...well, ok...I choose to do that.  When my last hour there neared, I started dragging my feet about leaving.  Usually I was standing at the clock at go-home time, but I didn't want to leave that night, because I knew it was THE END.   Finally I gathered my stuff, walking with my friends...a blubbering mess, I clocked out...for the last time.  It was hard to say good-bye.

I started working at Coosa Valley Pediatrics with a group of girls that I'm enjoying getting to know and with a doctor and PA that I enjoy working with and highly respect.

I got to spend Christmas at home.  If I wouldn't had made the job change, then I'd would've been at work.  Oh how, happy I was to spend ALL DAY IN MY JAMMIES, IN FRONT OF THE FIRE & CHRISTMAS TREE WITH MY PRECIOUS FAMILY!

I got to meet my brand new little cousin, Henri.  She made her grand appearance in the middle of the night on the 27th.

On New Year's Eve, I had WAY too much...fun.

On New Year's Day, I was in bed.

I gained 10 pounds over the past couple of month.  So I'm determine to get back in my "sexy comfort zone".
My little reminder on the back of my pantry door.
